PM = QM = PQ/2  , PM = QM = 3.5 cm

Step 1 : Draw a line segment PQ = 7 cm

Step 2: Using compass width slightly less than PQ, taking P as center draw arcs on both sides of PQ

Step 3: Keeping compass width same as in step 2 , Draw arcs taking Q as center such that it intersects arc drawn in step 2 at  A & B

Step 4: join AB intersecting PQ at M

PM = QM = PQ/2

on measuring PM = QM = 3.5 cm
