To Find : Construct a line segment parallel to XY

passing through a point Z outside it.

Solution:

Step 1 : Draw a line segment XY = 6 cm

Step 2 : Take a point Z  not on XY

Step 3 : Taking suitable width of compass & taking Z as center intersect XY at A & B

Step 4 : Taking suitable width of compass & taking A & B as center draw arcs intersecting at M

Step 5 : Join ZM and extend to intersect XY at N

Step 6 : draw a right angle at Z on NZ using protector / Setsquare  and draw line QR

QR ║ XY passing through Z
