First of all , we need to know few facts about plane mirror:

  • Plane mirror is a regular reflecting surface of infinite radius of curvature.

Hence , the characteristics of image produced by a plane mirror are as follows:

  • Image is virtual i.e. produced behind the mirror.

  • Image is upright (considering object to be erect).

  • Image is of the same size as that of the object i.e. magnification is equal to 1.

  • Object distance is equal to the image distance.
