It is a law that states that electric current is directly proportional to voltage and inversely proportional to resistance.

V ∝ I

 \frac {V}{I} is constant.

V =  \frac {I}{R}

Here R is a constant for the given metallic wire at a given temperature and is called as it's Resistance.
