Explanation about the BRAIN OF THE CELL

  • Nucleus is called as the brain of the cell as it controls most of the functions of the cell .

  • Its placement varies in plant and animal cells . In animal cell nucleus is found in the centre while in plant cells most the part is covered by the vacuoles so nucleus is sometimes found at the corners or somewhere else .

  • Nucleus is responsible for transfer of genetic material through DNA which is deoxyribonucleic acid.

  • On the basis of nucleus organisms are divided into prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Prokaryotes organisms which show absence of the nuclear membrane while in Eukaryotes organisms show the presence of nuclear membrane .

  • The main body inside the nucleus called as nucleolus produces ribosomes .

  • Nucleus consists of the following parts :

  1. Nucleoplasm
  2. Chromatins
  3. Outer membrane
  4. Nuclear membrane
  5. Pores
  6. Nucleolus
