Sperm is a male reproductive cell and it is a specialized cell in that it has adaptations which help it to function effectively.

1. It has acrosome with a lytic enzyme which digests the egg membrane to allow it to penetrate into the nucleus of the ovum to allow fertilization.

2. It has many mitochondria to provide it with energy for movement

3. It has a long tail to allow propulsion of the sperm from the vagina to the oviduct to allow fertilization to take place.

4. It has a nucleus which contains the genetic information

Answer:

hey dude! here is your answer

The sperm cells are the haploid gametes which are produced in the male. There are different parts of the sperm cell.

(a) Acrosome: This structure contains enzymes used for penetrating the female egg.

(b) Nucleus: There is the genetic material which is a haploid genome because it contains only one copy of each chromosome.

(c) Middle piece: The middle piece has a central filamentous core with many mitochondria spiralled around it which is used for ATP production for the journey through the female cervix, uterus and uterine tube.

(d) Tail: There is a long tail which is used for swimming and reaching near the egg.
