Some of the characteristics of spirogyra are as follows :

1. Habitat : Spirogyra is an algae. They dwell in in aquatic areas.

2. Body Structure : They are filamentous and multicellular. They are green in color. Their cell wall has constituents like pectin as well as cellulose. They also possesses chloroplast.

3. Reproduction :  They reproduce by the method called fragmentation. In this method, the main body of parent divides as fragments and then every fragments then develops into many new spirogyra.
