Dendrites carry information to the cell whereas axons carry away the information from the cell.
Axons and dendrites do not touch each other even though axon of one neuron is very closely placed to the dendrite of another neuron.
This connection between dendrite and axon is called synapse, which carries neural impulse from one neuron to another.
