The scale is shown in the figure below.

Given:

1cm=1m

Maximum distance = 6m

Indicate: 4m and 6 dm

To find:

Show the distance 4m and 6 dm on the scale.

Solution:

Representative Fraction R.F = Dimension of Drawing / Dimension of Object

R.F = 1cm/1m = 1/100

Length of the scale = R.F *Maximum distance

=1/100 * 600 cm = 6cm.

Draw a line that is 6 cm long and split it into 6 equal segments. Each component will stand in for a larger division unit.

Subdivide the first part to represent the second unit or fraction of the first unit.

Place 0 at the end of the first unit. Units should be numbered on the right side of Zero, while subdivisions should be numbered on the left. For a scale look, use a scale height of 5 to 10 mm.

Mention the scale's RF and name after it has been constructed, as illustrated. Display the 4 m 6 dm distance on it as displayed.
