Reflection of light through a Triangular Prism

Explanation:

  • To understand the reflection of light through a prism, first one should have  a basic idea about the prism.
  • Prism- A prism is a wedge shaped portion of  a transparent refractive medium bounded by two plane faces inclined to each other at a acertain angle.
  • Angle of a Prism-It refers to the angle present in between two refracting surfaces.
  • Refraction through a Prism:Deviation produced by a Prism-When a ray of light is incident on a glass prism,it bends towards the normal as it enters a denser medium. This ray suffers an additional refraction on the other refracting face and bends away from the normal as it enters a rarer medium. The angle of deviation is the angle between the incident ray and emergent ray
