A convex lens is thicker in the middle and thinner at the edges.

It is also known as Converging Lens

It  increase refraction, and accordingly reduce the focal length.

It is used in  telescopes, cameras, lasers, glasses, binoculars, etc.

For an erect image of an object, the object between F1  and the optical centre of a convex lens. The image is formed in the same side of the lens.

The below attachment is a ray diagram for (a)  Real, inverted and diminished.
