Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l+b) = 2(12+6) = 2*18 = 36cm

square has same perimeter as rectangle 

and four sides of squares are equal 

so side of square = 36/4 = 9 cm

area of square = side*side =9*9 =81 cmsquare
