Take square ABCD. Construct a perpendicular bisector on side BC.Extend the perpendicular bisector at E of one side till it touches the opposite side AD at F. We know angle B and A are 90 degrees since they are part of square. Now angle BEF and AFE are 90 degree. So this is a rectangle or square. it is clearly a rectangle since one side is larger than the other. SO BE=AF. BE=1/2xBC
BC=AD. So AF=1/2AD. So this line bisects opposite side.
