Solution:

To find the diagonal of the square with the side of 3 cm.

Use Pythagoras

A^2 + B^2 = C^2

3^2 + 3^2 = C^2

9 + 9 = C^2

C^2 = 18

C = √18 = 4.2 cm

Now, the new side of a square is 4.2 cm which is the length of the diagonal of the first square.

Perimeter of a square = 4 sides

P = 4s

P = 4(4.2) = 16.8 cm

Area of a square = side * side

A = s^2

A = (4.2)^2 = 17.64 cm^2
