Given ,

Ratio = 2 : 3

Length of the line segment = 5 cm

Answer ,

Since the ratio is dividing the straight line segment of 5 cm in two unequal parts.

Therefore,

Let the first part be 2x

and the second be 3x

Now,

Length of 1st part = 2x of 5

= 2x × 5

= 10x

Length of 2nd part = 3x of 5

= 3x × 5

= 15x

According to question,

10x + 15x = 5

⟹ 25 x = 5

⟹ x = 5/25 = 0.2

Length of 1st part = 2x

= 2 × 0.2

= 0.4

Length of 2nd part = 3x

= 3 × 0.2

= 0.6
