Answer:

The atmosphere can be divided into layers based on its temperature, as shown in the figure below. These layers are the troposphere, the stratosphere, the mesosphere and the thermosphere. A further region, beginning about 500 km above the Earth's surface, is called the exosphere.

The scale on the right shows the pressure. For example, at a height of 50 km, the pressure is only about one thousandth of the pressure at the ground.....

The atmosphere is the thick layer of different gasses surrounding the earth from all sides.

Explanation:

  • The earth's atmosphere has been divided into five different layers on the basis of the height, temperature, and composition of different gases. They are:
  • Troposphere: It is the first, thinnest, and lowest layer that extends from the surface of the earth to an altitude of about 16km. Most of the moisture of the atmosphere occurs in this layer.
  • Stratosphere: It extends between 16-50 km from the earth's surface. It has a protective ozone layer that protects us from harmful UV radiation of sunlight. so, it is also known as the ozonosphere.
  • Mesosphere: It is the third layer of the atmosphere which extends from 50-80 km above the earth's surface.
  • Thermosphere: It is the fourth layer of the atmosphere that extends from 80-720 km above the earth. The temperature increases with increasing altitude.
  • Exosphere: It is the outermost layer extended beyond 720 km above the earth's surface. So, it is also called fringe region.
