Given  : circle of radius 3.3 cm

To Find :  draw a tangent to the circle from a point A such that d(O,A) =7.5cm

Solution:

Step 1  : Mark a point O

step 2 : Using compass width = 3.3 cm and taking O as center draw a circle

Step 3 : Draw a ray OX

Step 4 : Using compass width  = 7.5 cm and taking O as center cut ray OX at A

Step 5 : Using suitable compass width and taking O as center draw arc on both sides

Step 6 : keeping compass width  same and taking A as center draw arc on both sides such that it intersects arc drawn in previous step at Y and  Z

Step 7 : Join YZ intersecting OA at M

Step 8 : Using compass width = MA = OM , draw an arc intersecting circle at P

Step 9 : join AP

AP is the required tangent
