Draw a well-labelled diagram of L.S of a pistil of a flower showing the passage of growing of pollen tube up to its destination.

The diagram of passage of pollen tube into ovule is in the attachment and the pistil is described below :

The pistil is the main female reproductive portion of a flower. This structure has another name to, that is, carpel.

This structure called pistil has mainly three parts. These are -

i) Stigma

This is the landing site of the pollen grain. It lands on the stigma where under suitable conditions, the pollen grain gets germinated.

ii) Style

This is a long stalk like structure which connects stigma with the ovary.

iii) Ovary

This is the basal region of the pistil. It contains ovule which has the egg.
