During Indus Valley civilisation, people used to worship a number of gods and goddesses and worshipping Peepal tree was one of their way to thank God for providing them with such a beautiful environment and gracing them with food through these plants.

Not only did they worship trees but there are various seals, which depict that the people from Indus Valley also worshipped some animals like a bull and a God named Pashupati, who is referred to as the God of animals.
