CONSTRUCTION:

  • Draw a line AB of 8.5 cm using ruler.

  • Using compass draw an arc of 8.5 cm by A as centre.

  • Again by using compass draw an arc of 8.5 cm by B as centre.

  • Join AC and BC.

  • We will get an equilateral triangle.

  • Using compass draw an arc of 1 cm by keeping A as centre.

  • Without changing the measurements draw arcs by keeping D and E as centres.

  • Join AH to X.

  • Again by using compass draw an arc of 1 cm by keeping B as centre.

  • Without changing the measurements draw arcs by keeping F and G as centres.

  • Join BI to Y.

  • X and Y are bisector of ∠A and ∠B and meet at O.

  • By taking 4 cm draw arcs by keeping H and I as centre.

  • Join OJ to Z.

  • By taking O as centre and OL as radius draw a circle which meets all the three sides of the triangle.

  • Hence we have drawn an incircle.

  • Measure radius of incircle OL which is equal to 2.5 cm.
