➜ Question :-
Draw and describe structure and function of thermometer .
➜ Answer :-
The clinical thermometer consists of a glass stem on which readings are marked. The scale on the thermometer is markrd from 95 F to 110 F (35 C to 43 C).The normal body temperature is shown by a red arrow at 98.4 F (or 37 C). The stem consists of a thin capillary tube at the end of which there is a bulb containing mercury. The capillary tube has a kink near the bulb which prevents the mercury from flowing back into the bulb when it is taken out of the patient's mouth.
➔ Importance of thermometer
The range of a laboratory thermometer is generally from 10C to 110C. Hence it is not used for measuring body temperature.
