draw and explain the stress strain graph for a loaded steel wire
Answers
Answer:
Describe stress strain graph of a loaded steel wire and hence explain the terms elastic limit, permanent set, tensile strength. ... The stress-strain graph is plotted between the stress (applied force per unit area) and the strain produced. In the graph region between O to A, the curve is linear

Explanation: well, its weird but if u join all the points u ll get axis and garph betwn stress and strain((a clear picture may be mentioned in books)), now as we inc. weight (tension)we saw that stress is proportional to strain,up to pt.A [[and constant of proportionality is modulus of elstisity (in case of rod its young modulus)]].and after A we get a quite small straight path i.e. there is elongation without change in force up to pt.B,upto this stress rod can retain its shape if we remove force and called elastic limit, and after this rod cannot retain its shape at B we graph is now getting curvy and called as plastic curve if we now inc weight(tension),there is elongation but rod cannot go back to its original length.thats it
