Answer:

The Golgi apparatus, also called Golgi complex or Golgi body, is a membrane-bound organelle found in eukaryotic cells (cells with clearly defined nuclei) that is made up of a series of flattened stacked pouches called cisternae. It is located in the cytoplasm next to the endoplasmic reticulum and near the cell nucleus.

Functions:-

  • The process of storage, modification, and packaging of  products of ER is done in Golgi apparatus.
  • The formation of complex sugars from simple sugars will not be possible as this takes place with the  help of enzymes present in Golgi bodies
  • The Golgi apparatus is involved in the formation of lysosomes. Thus, the synthesis of lysosomes is also done in golgi complex.
