The Skeleton is the central structure of the body and is made up of bones, joints and cartilage.

Explanation:

  • The skeletal system is made up of all of the body's bones and joints. Each bone is a living organ with numerous cells, protein fibers, and minerals.
  • The skeleton provides support for the body and serves as a framework for muscle and tissue attachment. It provides our bodies with the proper shape.
  • The internal organs are also protected by the bones of the skeleton, which also reduce the risk of injury during an impact. The brain is protected by the cranium, the heart and lungs are protected by the ribs and the spinal cord is protected by the vertebrae.
