Microcontroller- Types and Applications

• An 8 or 16 bit microprocessor.
• A little measure of RAM.
• Programmable ROM and flash memory.
• Parallel and serial I/O.
• Timers and signal generators.
• Analog to digital and digital to Analog conversion.

Difference between microcontrollers and microprocessors :

• Key difference in both of them is presence of external peripherals, where microcontrollers have RAM, ROM, EEPROM embedded in IT while we have to use external circuits in case of microprocessors.
• As all the peripheral of microcontroller are on single chip it is compact while microprocessors is bulky.
