The process of taking in oxygen and releasing carbon(IV)oxide is at times referred to as respiration. Inhalation is the process of drawing in air into the lungs while exhalation refers to expulsion of air out of the lungs.
Respiration in a more specific meaning refers to the production of energy in form of ATP molecules by cells of living organisms. However, scientifically this is what is known as cellular respiration.
Here are photos of the flow of how these activities take place:

Cellular respiration:
- All living cells must carry out cellular respiration.
- All living cells must carry out cellular respiration.During respiration, energy is produced when the glucose or fatty acids are oxidised in the cells. As this process occurs in the cells this is called cellular respiration.
