Explanation:

electronic configuration for 20 electrons

number of electrons in 1st orbit= 2×1²= 2

in second orbit= 2×2²= 8

in third , since remaining = 20-(2+8)= 10

then max number of electrons in third= 8

and in fourth orbit only 2 electrons are adjusted

for completing configuration

=> 2,8,8,2 is the first arrangement

( stable arrangement according to the

octant rule of bohr)

=> according to the energy level an arrangement

is also possible I'e

2, 8 ,9, 1 ( unstable according to this rule)
