Answer:

Chloroplasts are small organelles inside the cells of plants and algae. They absorb light to make sugar in a process called photosynthesis. The sugar can be stored in the form of starch. Chloroplasts contain the molecule chlorophyll, which absorbs sunlight for photosynthesis. Two membranes contain and protect the inner parts of the chloroplast. They are named the outer and inner membranes. The inner membrane surrounds the stroma and the grana (stacks of thylakoids).

Overall photosynthesis process carbon dioxide + water —> glucose + oxygen + water. The equation is given as 6CO2 + 6H2O —> C6H12O6 + 6O2. Overall, photosynthesis uses light energy to convert carbon dioxide into a carbohydrate.
