mayureshwar: can you please answer why it is called citric acid cycle?
addgjkcxhbvj: The citric acid cycle (CAC) – also known as the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle or the Krebs cycle[1][2] – is a series of chemical reactionsused by all aerobic organisms to release stored energy through the oxidation of acetyl-CoA derived from carbohydrates, fats, and proteins into carbon dioxide and chemical energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate(ATP).
mayureshwar: thanks
addgjkcxhbvj: wlcm dear
mayureshwar: but I had a doubt that this answer has not exactly answered why it is called?
addgjkcxhbvj: Though the Krebs cycle does not directly require oxygen, it can only take place when oxygen is present because it relies on by-products from the electron transport chain, which requires oxygen. The Krebs cycle is therefore an aerobic process.
mayureshwar: thanks for your copration with me.
