• The process of supplying water to crop is known as irrigation.
• Different sources of water for irrigation are wells, ponds,canals, tube wells, dams.
• Different type of irrigation are -
• Localized irrigation - water is supplied through a network of pipes under low pressure.
• Surface irrigation - water distributed across land by gravity.
• Drip irrigation-  water is delivered near the roots of the plants.
• Sub irrigation- water is distributed through a system of pumping station  gates , canals and ditches by raising the water table.
