Kashmiri craft’s major dependence was on tourism.

Since, 87% decline was observed in the tourists in 2018, as a result Kashmir has faced major decline in the crafts sector. This case is relatable in case of Indian crafts.

Today, Indian craft industry is highly depending on tourism. An international passenger survey shows that tourist’s expenditure on craft contributes to 90% of the tourism business. Not only one but a lot of crafts are suffering due to it.

All stuff in either exported or sold to tourists and there is not enough for domestic buyers. Another reason is the high cost for domestic buyers. This is resulting in the loss of interest in the local crafts among domestic buyers.
