Here,when making the triangle

angle ABC,that is angle B=90°

And adjacent sides of B are

AB & BC,To find AC which is the opposite side of right angle B,which is also known as Hypotenuse

We know

According to Pythagoras theorem

a²+b²=c²

where,a&b=adjacent sides

c=Hypotenuse

Substituting the values,to find the 3rd side

AB²+BC²=AC²

7²+6²=AC²

49+36=AC²

AC²=85

AC=√85

Therefore the length of the 3rd side is √85 cm
