Sawhorse Projection is drawn by adding sticks at 120 degree angle in which carbon-carbon bond is formed. Its similar to Newman projections which represent chemical bond from front to back where front atom shown with dot whereas back carbon design with circle. The conformations of butane is shown in attached file where eclipsed form is least stable and anti form is more stable.
