Answer : -
An electric bell contains an electromagnet, consisting of coils of insulated wire wound round iron rods. When an electric current flows through the coils, the rods become magnetic and attract a piece of iron attached to a clapper. The clapper hits the bell and makes it ring.

hi,
here is your answer.
WORKING OF A ELECTRIC BELL
when the BELL is switched on, the point p and q gets joined. This completes circuit.
#1
when the current flows through the circuit the abcd coil turns into electromagnet, it become a a strong electromagnet as there is a iron rod in side the coil.
#2
the metal attracts the metal arm xy.
#3
the arm with which hammer (h) is attatchment hits the gong (g) and makes sound.
#4
now as the arm is out of the position the circuit breaks at point (e). as the circuit breaks the current stop flowing through the circuit.
