When a ray is incident perpendicularly to the surface then there is no deviation .
Explanation :
- When a light ray is incident on the the plane perpendicularly then the deviation due to refraction is zero .
- For a given curved surface the area of radius of curvature is R.
- Now if a light ray comes along the radius i.e. the radial direction then it will be perpendicular to the curved surface .
Hence , for a curved surface separating two media of refractive indices and , the case of zero deviation is shown in the attached fig .
