we know as well velocity is the rate of change of displacement with respect to time, right ?

it means, when trajectory of particle with respect to time is drawn, velocity at a specific point will be tangent of that point and direction of velocity is along tangent.

in figure, it is clearly shown that trajectory of particle is not linear. it means direction of velocity of particle changes at each point of trajectory.

if you ask to find instantaneous velocity at a specific point. just draw tangent at that point, you will see direction of velocity as shown in figure.

and velocity = tanα = dx/dt
