  • Mercury is used in barometer which helps barometer to show the level of atmospheric pressure in barometer.
  • In the mercury barometer, a column of mercury is balanced by atmospheric pressure.
  • Mercury is used in barometer but not other liquids or elements because mercury has very hight density, its rate of evaporation is not much high and it has low vapour pressure.
  • There is 760 mm of mercury present in barometer.
  • The parts of mercury barometer are :- Vaccum, glass tube, mercury etc.
