Different arrangements of monomers of plastic are as follows:-

  1. Linear polymers- It contains monomers arranged in a straight line and does not possess any cross-linking. The straight-chain is called the backbone and side groups may be attached to it. For example- polyethylene, PVC, etc
  2. Crosslinked polymers- It is a network polymer having covalently bonded monomer units. Crosslinking is responsible for forming stronger polymers. Example: Vulcanised rubber, Bakelite, Melamine, etc
