Concept:

In order to understand the practically impossible Displacement-Time graphs we need to understand the basic characteristics of "displacement".

Displacement denotes the shortest distance between the starting and stopping point.

  • It is a vector quantity

  • It has both magnitude and directions.

  • It can be negative, zero or positive.

So , with these characteristics , we can say that any object cannot have two displacement magnitudes at the same

time.

A circular or closed polygonal Displacement-Time graph is not possible practically because that object cannot have 2 displacements at the same specified time.
