Explanation:
na i.e. sodium has 1 eletron in it's valence shell where as cl has 7 electron in it's valence shell .thus , Na transfers it's 1 valence electron to chlorine and thus gets stable and attains positive sign whereas chlorine in order to become stable takes the valence electron from Na to complete it's outer most shell and thus attains negative sign as it has gain the electron .
Similar is in the case of cacl2 where Ca has 2 valence electrons is donate them to chlorine and thus attains positive charge .
