• Reproduction:- The process to produce of its own kind for the continuation of species is called as reproduction.
• Modes of Reproduction:- In plants, there are two types of reproduction: asexual and sexual.
*Note :: Refer Image for the flow chart and Text for Understanding it.

In asexual reproduction, new plants are formed without the production of seeds or spores. It may be in following ways:
In this type, the reproduction takes place through the vegetative parts of the plant, e.g.
• Stem in rose, sugarcane, potato, ginger, etc.
• Leaves in Bryophyllum.
• Roots in sweet potato and Dahlia.
The process of formation of an additional outgrowth which gets detach to produce an individual.
• Bud: The small bulb like projection coming out from the yeast is called a bud.
• The bud gradually grows and attains the shape of the parent and get detached from the parent cell to form a new yeast cell .
Reproduction in alga is by fragmentation process . in this form of reproduction, an alga breaks up into two or more small pieces as fragments. These fragments grow into new individual.
the spores are asexual reproductive bodies . under favourable conditions a spore germinates and develop into a new individual . eg- fungi

• Flowers are the reproductive organ of a plant .
• The stamens are the male reproductive part and the pistil is the female reproductive part.
• Unisexual flowers:- The flowers which contain either only the pistil or only the stamens in it, are called unisexual flowers, eg, corn, papaya and cucumber, etc.
• Bisexual flowers:- The flowers which contain both stamens and pistil in it , are called bisexual flowers, eg, mustard, rose, petunia, etc.
• Male gametes :- anther of stamen contains pollen grains, which produce male gametes.
• Female gametes :- The ovary of a pistil contains one or more ovules. The female gamete or an egg is formed in an ovule .
• Pollination:- The transfer of pollen grain from the anther to the stigma of either the same flower different flower of same plant or different plants of same species is called pollination .
• Self-pollination:- if the pollen reaches on the stigma of the same flower is called self pollination .
• Cross-pollination:- When the pollen of a flower reaches on the stigma reaches on the stigma of another flower of a the same plant or that of a different plant of the same species is called cross pollination .
