2x+3y=-5 ......i

x+y=-1

x=-1-y ......ii

substitute value of x in i

2(-1-y)+3y=-5

-2-2y+3y=-5

-2+y=-5

y=-5+2

y=-3

substitute y=-3 in ii

x=-1-y

=-1-(-3)

=-1+3

=2

Hence x=2 and y=-3
