This explanation is only if you are hand plotting the graph. If you are using a graphing calculator or a graphing program, all you need is the line equation in the form of y=mx+b.

Of line y=x+4 we can see that it is already in the form of y=mx+b.

The 'm' represents the slope, and the 'b' represents the y-intercept.

So here, m=1 and b=4.

Because 'b' is the y-intercept, we know that one point of the line y=x+4 is (0,4).

Also the slope 'm' which is 1 in the form of riserun is 11.

So from point (0,4) you should find a point of the line by moving 1 unit up, and 1 unit to the right.
