Answer:

1) Lewis dot structure of N2 is given below:

(a) In order to come up with this answer, you first need to know the number of valence electrons for Nitrogen.

(b) So  N  is a member of the Group 5A (based on the periodic table), the number of electrons in its outermost shell must be 5.

2) Lewis dot structure of CCl4 is given below:

It has a tetrahedral geometry.

first we have to draw the skeleton structure in which the other atoms are single-bonded to the central atom — a  C  atom with four   Cl  atoms attached to it.

And then draw a trial structure by putting electron pairs around every atom until each gets an octet.

Answer :  The Lewis structure of N_2 and CCl_4 are shown below.

Explanation :

Lewis-dot structure : It shows the bonding between the atoms of a molecule and it also shows the unpaired electrons present in the molecule.

In the Lewis-dot structure the valance electrons are shown by 'dot'.

The given molecule is, N_2 and CCl_4

As we know that nitrogen has '5' valence electrons, carbon has '4' valence electrons and chlorine has '7' valence electron.

The total number of valence electrons in N_2 = 2(5) = 10

The total number of valence electrons in CCl_4 = 4 + 4(7) = 32

According to Lewis-dot structure, in N_2 there are 6 number of bonding electrons and 4 number of non-bonding electrons and in CCl_4 there are 8 number of bonding electrons and 24 number of non-bonding electrons.

The Lewis-dot structure of N_2 and CCl_4 are shown below.
