Draw the path of light ray when it passed through the prism with the angles of deviation. Write the expression of angles of deviation.​

Let a ray of monochromatic light OP incidents at P on the retracting face AB at an angle of incidence <em> </em>i<em>_</em> {1} and suffers refraction from air to glass to glass, bends towards the normal making an angle of refraction equal to r_{1} and finally travels along the path PQ inside the prism . Again the refracted ray PQ strikes the retracting surface AC of the prism at an angle of incidence r_{2}and after suffering refraction from glass to air, it energes out of the prism at an angle of emergence i_{1}

Here, the angle between the direction of incident ray and the emergent ray (∠LMQ) is called angle of deviation of the ray of light after refraction through the prism.
