The solenoid is a coil with many turns where the wire is wrapped closely to form the shape of a cylinder.

  • The cylindrical shape is the solenoid device.
  • And coil is wrapped with a number of turns around the cylindrical shape.
  • When a current passed through this device, and then the magnetic field lines inside act parallelly and form a closed-loop outside.
  • So uniform magnetic field is the pattern of field lines.
  • The main purpose of the solenoid is to act as electromagnet.
