Pyramid of numbers:
- Pyramid of numbers is representation of food chains graphically.
- The number of organisms at each trophic level increases from top to bottom in this pyramid but the size of the organism decreases at each level.
- In the given food chain, aphids feed on grass which are very tiny but are numerous. In turn, ladybirds feed on aphids which are less in number comparatively.
- Moving further in the food chain, we see lady birds are fed upon by insectivorous birds which are small in number but bigger in size.
- Finally, insectivorous birds become prey to Hawks which are very few but are much larger in size.
