When an object is placed perpendicular on the principal axis between pole and focus, a virtual and erect image is formed behind the mirror. The image is larger in size as compared to object.
Please find the ray diagram for the same attached below.
Object XY is placed between focus (F) and pole (P). In a converging mirror all the rays converge to focus. A ray parallel to principal axis from point X strikes concave mirror and reflects back passes through focus. Another ray passes through center of curvature. Extending the two rays behind the mirror where they intersect. The image (X'Y') would be formed there.
Hence, A virtual, erect and magnified image is formed.
