Spectroscopy is the branch of the science that deals with the study of spectra.

Explanation:

• The spectra are mainly of two types:- Emission spectra and absorption spectra.
• Emission Spectra:- The spectrum obtained when the source is passed directly through the prism and then received on the photographic plate is called an emission spectrum.
• Absorption Spectra:- When the white light is first passed through the substance and the transmitted light is analysed in the spectroscope, the spectrum obtained is called the absorption spectrum.
