Given  :  Draw parallel lines cut by a  transversal :

To Find :  relation between angles formed

Solution:

Transversal line : A line which passes through two lines in the same plane at two distinct points.

The lines in the same plane which do not intersect each other are called parallel lines.

Parallel lines are represented by ||  symbol

Draw parallel lines cut by a  transversal :

Properties of angles formed by transversal line  with two parallel lines :

• Corresponding angles are congruent.

• Alternate angles are congruent.  ( Interiors & Exterior  both )

• Interior angles are supplementary. ( adds up to 180°)

if a & b are interior angles

then sum of a + b = 180°
